Hey Rick
277, 301, 303, 313, 318 & 326 polys should all have same intake. But all of those other sizes are more oddball than the 318, so they aren't necessarily easy to find.

Dont think its the ballest resistor, my guess would be grounds. I've had bad ballest resistors and what happens with me is the car will start but not stay running when the key is released to the "on" position on the ignition switch. I now carry a few in my glovebox. HOWEVER somebody did tell me...
Yeah I hear you on that. It seems like all the RV's that I stubble across are low mileage, less than 50K, and free, but you gotta take the whole thing. I have one at a friends house, only has 30k on it, but I will strip it down to check it out and put gaskets in it at a minimum when the time...
gotta change oil pan, heads have more cooling passages I believe, so ya gotta be careful when getting head gaskets, maybe somebody can elaborate here, and they all have low compression, but have alot of torque, some have 6 pak rods if I remember right.....
As for headers yes TTI's are nice but pricey, I bought a set of shorties off ebay from a guy brand new for $150, don't fit as nice as tti's but for the price difference I made them work

No, a 361 intake wont fit. I just built a poly completely, so I can answer just about any question you have. CamCraft cams did my cam, I have a weiand 4 bbl intake on it now and also have a Weiand 6 pack intake. I would try and find a stock cast iron 4 bbl for a stock motor. Any more questions...
