Did the car stall out when you ditched it? If so the balancer may have spun a little on the hub. just another suggestion. Also a bad water pump can cause a vibration.

That sucks. Be careful with oils today with flat tappet cams. They have taken the zinc out of oil for emission puposes. If you use an off the shelf brand of oil make sure to use a zinc additive ( ZDDP ) or use an oil with zinc in it Joe Gibbs Hot Rod oil or something similar. Or..............go...

as far as numbers go, it will be tough to find exactly what they are out of. To help ID these better you can look at the tailshaft length. E body will be short (+/- 12") with a rearward mounted shifter. B-body will be longer (+/- 17") and wil have provision for a forward mounted shifter. The...

Not for nothin', but I'd bet on the low roller clutch being damaged.

what are you looking to spend? I have a #'s matching 383 4 speed bench w/42,000 mi. It doesn't have the ramcharger hood however. It is very original, not perfect and I have alot of documentation to go with it.

good fix also. glad to see it resolved. been doin trany's for over twenty years never had an issue grinding a tad off the heads if needed.

check the bolt head thickness. if they are fatter than the originals, you may need to take off some material. also, as mentioned above, the slightest tweak in the cover can cause this.

Hook it up, you can cook the tranny without it!!

The case would be from an OD truck. The internals may have been swapped out however.
