    Head bangers

Hah! This goes on mine whenever I open the hood and start working on it. Cheaper than a helmet.......

    What is it?? Miller Tool

I found this on a Wrangler forum, looks like it's for an NV-231 transfer case used in some Jeeps, Dakotas, Durangos, etc. https://wranglertjforum.com/attachments/nv231j-rebuild-pdf.16027/

    1st try (engines first crank)

Once you get it started, it's always a good idea to duck down and eyeball the underside of the engine for any major fluid leaks.

Changing my first fuel filter as a rookie. Would like any tips you might have

Hold everything. How much looser? Those filters commonly come in 5/16 and 3/8 diameter depending on what size your fuel line is. Are you sure you got the correct size filter to match your fuel line? In the pic below that's a 3/8 on the right, and a 5/16 on the left. You don't want to run...

Could someone explain how air shocks work to a newbie? And possibly how to adjust them?

Tony, It looks like you have some leftover hardware on that car. The air fitting by the license plate goes into a tee fitting and from there two lines branch off, one line goes to each shock. You can follow the lines to confirm that. The corroded fitting under your bumper looks like it did the...

I did indeed. The stickers have already found a home. The toolbox is going in the trunk. Thanks again!

I'd like to give a big THANK YOU to the folks who set up the tent and provided us with a great lunch. The "shady" place to hang out was much appreciated. It was nice finally getting to meet some of you folks. I will see you next year. I might even bring my car :) Cheers.

Engine rebuild toolkit. What's in yours?

Black_Sheep mentioned a harmonic balancer installer. You will need a puller as well to remove the balancer from the crank. I would remove all plugs from the block and heads before the machine work is done. Freeze plugs as well as any oil passage plugs. Some of these will be a press fit that tap...

Square head 1/4" NPT block water drains

This is spot-on. They're actually sold as 10mm drain plug sockets. Common on foreign cars. How they ended up in your block is another question entirely. But that's what you have. I just measured a couple 10mm open-end wrenches and got .401 - .403 across the flats, the socket should be similar...

Law Enforcement apprehends a ‘Bad Guy’ FBBO member at Carlisle

40 years ago I got pulled over by a Tulsa cop. I went thru the only traffic circle in Tulsa and he didn't like something I did. It was 11 PM or thereabouts. First time I ever got pulled over, so I was kinda nervous. He asked if he could sit in my car, a '67 LTD. I said sure. He then proceeded to...

440 transplant would not run without holding key to the right.....

That engine looks like it needs a few things. You've got mismatched spark plug wires, your PCV valve is not connected, etc.. The previous maintenance on that engine is rather suspect. At some point (soon) I would replace the cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires. Also buy a new PCV valve and hook it...

Water pump bolt broke/stuck into the block. Any ideas how to extract it?

A little background. My first career I was a machinist in a couple different FAA repair stations that repaired piston-engined crankcases. Lycoming, Continental, and the occasional Franklin. These were opposed/flat engines with aluminum castings that ranged from 4 to 8 cylinders. Most of them had...

    Alignment

Dan, Define "slipping out of alignment". What are you seeing when it slips? My first thought was that they didn't torque the UCA cam bolts properly. I think they take 65 foot pounds? I had to take my cuda back to the shop three times before they got it right. They kept under-torquing the cam...
