My Slant 6 pan was always dripping ever so slightly when it had a copper crush washer on. The last time I had it out I put on a softish rubber washer that was maybe 1/8" thick and squashable. That seemed to do the trick. I just found it in my hardware box.
I'm looking to remove and clean up the top stainless trim piece on the back of my 66 Coronet 440 deck lid. It appears to be held on by two studs and nuts (at either end which you can see and handle easily) plus five plastic push pins of some kind. I can see a small white plastic push pin...
I left the bar in without the spring. Honestly, how much can it do anyway? It just sits there on the end of bar with no compression on it. It seems to me there is as much chance to rattle with the spring as without. I know it's heresy but just asking questions.
When I rebuilt my rear brakes last winter the spring on the left side broke and I didn't have a replacement. I thought I would just leave it out and see what happens. It seems fine to me. I have not noticed any noise or any rattles from the spring being missing. Maybe next time I have it...
Make sense. I had asked earlier in the thread if the gasket needs to be of a particular material. So regular fiber type gasket material should work. I may try the O-ring option too just to see. Thank you.
