i had the same symptoms ... temps down and it would be fine , lucas super coolant helps alot , try it

i kinda had the same problem on my built 440 in my 73 challenger , would get to 200+ temps only on highway at 3k + rpms , though the weather in Qatar is 110+ , never puked over and yea, just kept driving her making sure she does not reach 220, daily driver for the past 3 years and not a problem

check your fuel filter - fuel lines for minor leak
