On this topic, I added a couple of large access holes (per side) for my media blaster to clean the interior of this fairly solid Charger cowl. He used an extension on his gun and was very successful. Now -- any ideas on how I go about getting a good coating of paint or sealing material into this...
As a follow-up question ----- how do you suppose the factory sealed-up that rather large gap when there was no vinyl top (like on R413's car)? It is in a very visible location so the filler/putty must have been in place (but not the c-pillar molding) during the painting ??
Thanks all for your comments and pics of your cars. I feel a bit better knowing this is a factory configuration that just needs to be sealed properly with a good seam sealer or similar. I did find the water shields mentioned by R413 and I will reinstall them.
Hello members ---- When trying to reinstall the original belt-line molding at the C-pillar, I see quite a large gap/hole at the end of the roof gutter that I assume needs to be filled. I tore the car apart for restoration but I failed to observe if there was some type of filler or sealer the...
Thanks Grabber,
The overall views look good. The devil is in the details. Could I trouble you for some close-up images all along the inside rear flange area? See arrows in pic attached.
Any rust-through in this area at all? I'm not expecting a perfect lid by any means ----- just no...
Just curious if any member in the Detroit area might have a 1968 Q-code Bright Blue Metallic paint job (original or re-spray) on their B-body that I could see?
I would like to preview that particular color before I jump in and have my car painted. It would be much appreciated.
Thank you in...
Looking for a very good 1968-69 OEM Charger trunk Lid. Must be solid and reasonably restorable with media blasting and minor rust work / straightening. Will pick-up. Detroit area. Thanks in advance!

I just discovered I have the wrong 727 transmission in my 68' 440 R/T undergoing restoration. I believe I am looking for a correct 727 with the part No. PK 2801541. A date code of around 2400 would be a bonus. Other, equally strong, but different year 727's would also be considered. Does not...
Thanks eldubb440 and Richard C. ----- that past forum article explains why my March 1968-built Charger is without these metal reinforcements.....A good reference item for the archives!
Regards, JW
I recently saw a 1968 Charger R/T undergoing restoration. The trunk had a pair of reinforcement brackets I was not familiar with. My 68' Charger does not have them. Please shed some light on this piece of sheet-metal. Is my car missing them? I don't see them in the aftermarket...
Thanks in...
Thanks again to all the members who contributed ideas to my conundrum.
With your help I just finished ID'ing the 727 transmission in my 1968 440 R/T Charger. I'll attached images for the Part No. and partial VIN from this transmission. After de-coding, looks like I have a newer model 1972 727...
