how much larger do you remember my hole size in the 8 1/4 is 1/2" what size do i need made?

I have a 1972 dodge charger and it has a 8 1/4 rear axle, and i have a 8 3/4 rear axle out of a 73 sattilite i have heard that the holes on the housing that go into the studs on the leafs are a bigger diamiter and I am wondering if it is true and if so how do i make this work thanks
