    Auction Sites

I will never understand how marketplace became so popular since the interface/filtering is REALLY crappy. I guess it's because everyone is using facebook anyway and craigslist started charging for car ads...

Realistic Cost to Build a Restomod

Unless i win a big lottery jackpot or get rich otherwise i would not touch restomod/pro touring cars. It's just too expensive. Yes if you can do all the work yourself it might be doable but most people (including me) can't. Instead i would get a decent original 60s/70s car and something like a...

Of course, i forgot to mention that one! Yes that's definitely one of those auctions that i've seen in the past without paying real attention to the name. Thanks for mentioning!

    Auction Sites

In the last couple of months i started following bringatrailer.com auctions to get a better feel for the market. Of course i also know the other major ones like mecum, barrett jackson as well as hemmings, autohunter.com, carsandbids.com (which is more of a "used" car site). But i've seen other...

2806178 Intake Manifold Replacement - What Date Code do I need?

Yes i know. That's why i came up with the theory that the first owner of the car had the valley pan replaced but this did not fix the leak. Then his mechanic told him this is something bigger and he decided to park the car. A Couple decades later someone else sold the car to me either knowing...

2806178 Intake Manifold Replacement - What Date Code do I need?

So meanwhile the new NOS gaskets arrived and yesterday we redid the job. Same story. It held up for about 30-40miles and then started leaking again. Pretty bad and on both sides. I can almost kill the engine spraying carburetor cleaner along the left or right side of the intake manifold. This...

2806178 Intake Manifold Replacement - What Date Code do I need?

I did some more research and it almost looks like that the type of "RTV" that we used is NOT suitable for this application (Elring Dirko HT ProfiPress). I will order another NOS valley pan gasket and once its back apart i will check the cylinder head mounting surfaces with a straight edge. I...

2806178 Intake Manifold Replacement - What Date Code do I need?

No. How would i know the fitment is correct? Also in your Picture there is no RTV on the china wall portion of the valley pan. Don't you use RTV there or did you put it on after taking the picture?
