    Start them all by hand before tightening any. Then mark it with paint.

    Should fit snug into the block. I used to use an open end wrench at the ridge to tap the tube into the block. Seems like a 1/2" wrench fit. Put the open end over the tube at the ridge, tap the wrench as close to the tube with a small hammer

    What's the best way to clean out the freeze plug water jackets on a big block?

    Seeing how the engine is on a stand, turn it upside down while blasting the water through it. Will help get out the sediment resting on the bottom.

    You could drill a couple small holes and use chrome cap screws with a little sealer. Would look better than burning the chrome off.

    The size mentioned above was an 8 point. This is a 4 point, much less chance of rounding off.

    4 speed not able to get in any gear

    Put trans in gear with engine off. Start engine with clutch pedal depressed. Does the car seem like it wants to move a little? If so, something is dragging.

    Fighting with this 440 idle!

    Is there a heat riser flap in the exhaust? Could be stuck closed, heating up the intake. Do you have the insulator pad between the intake and the valley pan?

    Could have a vacuum leak around the intake gasket. When warm, it expands enough to seal
