Finally got some time to mess with the car again! Nice weather is back around so work has gotten busy. It’s funny how tiny rust holes turn into big ones once you dig into them.
Ready to weld everything up! A pretty time consuming project but happy with the way it came out. Next onto sandblasting, epoxy, then getting it back on some wheels!
I’m happy with the way I have the front fitted! Everything is AMD so it doesn’t really drop in place. The body guys that do this every day must be ridiculously patient or maybe they actually know what they are doing. I’m ready to start taking the drivers side apron and rail out mock it up...
Starting to come together! I had to burn a patch in the torsion support. The AMD stuff fits nicely. You have to cut and modify to get a good fit. And you can never have enough vice grips doing this stuff! I’ll fit the hood, fenders, valance, and whatever I can to make sure it’s right.
Sounds good! Thanks for the advice. I’m going to need every bit of it. It was hit in the front so nothing is a given on this one. The passenger side took the hit. Hopefully it didn’t transfer much to the drivers side or the K- member. It X out ok with a tram from what I could tell.
Started taking the front apart today. Using a laser I leveled the car to the datum. Got the doors where I like them. Also dot lined a bunch of measurements to the floor.
I’m still not sure if I’m going to tackle both frame rails at the same time. I’m thinking I’m going to start on one...
This is currently what I’m starting on. I have read through Kern dogs thread. I’ve got the car leveled out and taking as many measurements as I can before I cut anything. The left side shock tower looked like it’s still pushed in a bit.
Definitely! I grew up in this car. Was never the nicest car but I have a lot of memories working on it with dad.
The Dana got put in because we lost the drive shaft messing around. The car got towed, When we got home he realized the driveshaft was gone. We looked and looked in the weeds...
