Here's my 2 cents: I just bought the Stealth heads for my 1964 383 rebuild. Reasons: 1) The cost to tweak the original heads would have been more than the cost of the heads from 440 source. 2) Messing with the orignal heads would have required lots of other changes to get the compression...
Two comments:
1) The ramp curve of the cam to get .509" lift is much more aggressive than stock, so the stamped rockers are not recommended. I think the theory behind it is due to the spring pressures and forces of the valve train components caused by such an agreesive curve. I had a 288R...
OK, lots of excellent discussion about CR, but does Bonsaiii67 want a race car or something that's streetable? I have a built 440 (comp cams magnum 288R with .550 lift, solid roller valve train, slightly ported 906 heads, .060 over block, decked and squared) and I can't get it to run on pump...
