A lot of guys down play the ability of the 83/4. It’s actually stronger in stock form then a 9” Ford. Build a custom housing and parts like a 9” it will be equal or even stronger. Yes Dana 60 even stock form pretty hard to beat but at 60lbs heavier. Cost wise it’s all comparable now.
So the 426 blocks I’ve seen listed around $1200. NOS block with the right dates may even go higher. The 440 blocks they are around. The dates on the 440 blocks are desirable for restoration purpose if they have the right numbers and are not warranty blocks.
So with a lot of changes in ownerships and production plants. I wonder if the Indy quality control has improved. It looks like the new owner is stepping it from pics I see. Then Mopar is reissuing the aftermarket blocks. Anyone have feed back or experience yet with these changes
