Thought id throw this in here. Apparently you can separate most 3 and 4 groove mopar pulleys and run just a single groove for all us “no power steering” guys. If you look closely at these style crank pulleys they have 4 spot welds. Drill them out and separate the pulleys. Worth the work, stock...
I have a similar built engine in my car, with a bit hotter cam. Same rear gear ratio, i went with a 2000 stall converter. When i foot brake the car i can get it to stall to about 2700-2800rpm. I used to have a 3k stall but it was a bit aggressive for the street. Awesome for the strip tho.
I asked the same question for my ‘71 b body. I put in dougs d452 headers and everything fit near perfect. No dents or any bashing needed. I was extremely happy with their ceramic coating too.
I also forgot to add that i have a shifter with a reverse lockout, so theres no way to even slam it in reverse to begin with. Either way, i will see if i can buy a new strut and slip one back in.
Just installed a freshly rebuilt 727 ( picked up from rebuilder 1 week ago). Installed it, filled it with atf+4. Put car on the ground and immediately did not have first or reverse. Dropped the pan and this is what i found.
Thought id update the thread, im almost 100% sure that my trans is slipping. Last night i drove the car and under full throttle shift from 2 to 3rd and trans missed 3rd. Pulled pan again and now have more junk in it than before. Will pull the trans and update.
Its not that im not accepting help, just trying to eliminate one thing at a time. If the trans is shot so be it, but it doesn’t feel like its slipping. Maybe i just need someone with some more experience than me to drive it and give me there opinion. This is my first build, so maybe i just don’t...
