I am finally ready to get this leg of the journey started! My buddy from work took the intake home last Friday to do a little cleanup on it. It cleaned up pretty good. He 3D printed a carb spacer to ensure fit and finish. We're going to CNC one out of aluminum for the final product.

Thanks for the info dmore. Going to pull the housing. After more discussion with some folks who know way more about these things than I do I think it's possible that the spring may be broken on the lever itself. At this point I'm still trying to figure out for sure what the issue is.

Here is a photo of one my ignition keys. I was going to take a photo of the other one last night but I forgot when I got home. I have always assumed it was original, but I notice It does look like the trim around the star isn't as close to the edge as what I'm seeing on some of the other keys...
