1970 ford thunderbird thunderjet for sale by owner - Tucson, AZ - craigslist
Across the 3rd gen years, 71 and 72 Plymouth b bodys look much better then the 73 and 74's. In my opinion. The 73 and 74 chargers have a nicer looking c pillar design then the 71 and 72 chargers, again my preference.
Here is something else to consider. I am dedicated Mopar guy since child hood, but I like Mustangs up to 73 too. They rare pretty cheap cars overall. Parts are cheaper too. Put aside the Mach 1 and Cobra cars, because they are not as cheap. I see Mustangs in nice orginal shape, rust free...
That is a comparison of cost to restore. Does not matter the make, model or year. The difference in price is not enough to get the poor condition car in the same shape as the better condition car.
Here are two cars that are a prime example of the cost/price and condition difference. A 1974 and a 1972. Can the 74 be brought to the condition of the 72 for the $9500 price difference?
1974 Plymouth roadrunner $12000 dropped to $10500
1972 Plymouth satellite/roadrunner tribute $20000
They are not really expensive cars overall. $30,000 gets you a nice one. Being paint is $15k and a drivetrain rebuild can go to $10k. Getting one in really nice shape is a much better idea. Buying a beat up car for $8k and spending another $40k on it vs. paying $30's for a well done car? Happy...
That is a common issue, Yes it can be adjusted out, most of the time. I put a set of brand new hinges on my 73. They do that and can not be adjusted out. My 72 has original hinges on it and they dont do that. They were easy to get adjusted.
The adjustment is in the hinge mount to the inner...
In my opinion, the factory egineered things to be just strong enough with a little added strength for security. I over build when modifying anything because I dont know how much stress it can actually take. I would not let the weld joints carry the weight if were me. Go in a little deeper.
This week I have accomplished quite a bit. Brake master cylinder is fitted to the brake bracket. The stock power brake linkage did not work with this system. It is a pressured master cylinder from ABS Power Brakes. I refitted the linkage in the bracket, upside down and reversed to get the ratio...
I have a 46RH in my 69 Road Runner. It was rebuilt a couple years ago. It works great, ecxept at full throttle. At WOT it wants to rev well over 6000 and wont upshift. I have adjusted the kick down cable, Bouchillon, to get my street driving shift points reasonable. If I adjust the cable to...
Wheel choices are very few when trying to get the correct offset and wide width. The rears are an 18x11 with 5" back space. Fronts are 18x8 with 4.5" backspace. They were off the shelf, not custom made. A custom wheel would have cost twice what these were.
When I get the front suspension on...
Maybe? But I am not doing a nut and bolt explanation of every aspect of this build. I am doing it for me. Selfish maybe, but I am at the age now where I really dont care about much else. Been there done that, this is what I am doing.
Aging, when you make to your 60's, at least for me, all the...
That's $3000 leaning against the wall right there. Man this world is getting crazy.
I think I am very happy with that choice though. 315/40's on the back.
I know, it is odd going to the rear. Putting the rear end in the car now with the cast aluminum diff cover, with the axle up to the bump stops the bar was contacting the cover. Had to make some 3/16" steel plates to shim the bar away from the axle a little. When test fitting it I had a stock...
Its been well over a year since this derelict Satellite followed me home. The paint is done. Now all the shiny and/or new parts can go back on.
The link is from a year ago when I started the dissasembly. I dont like yellow cars, and currently I have a 73 in yellow. So the 72 had to change...
