I must not have a true cable shift transmission, just a single cable operating the shift linkage for park, reverse and all three drive gears. I'm guessing it could operate the 904 linkage with minimal adjustment.
I'm looking to swap out the 904 in my 68 Charger that has a floor console out with what I think is a "cable shift" 727 from a 1967 D100. What linkage issues might I expect to encounter when doing the swap? Thank you.
Does anyone know of any good transmission builders in the Kansas City area? I have a 727 core that I'm considering for a rebuild or maybe a trade. Thanks!
Thanks for your advice and the links. I have the basic, bare bones alternator. I put it on after I discovered the previous alternator was not matched to the car and was the culprit for a number of issues years ago. If I have any more problems I'll look into a proper up-grade. All the best.
Thank you Wietse and Nacho-RT74. My Voltage Regulator has the modern components. I went through another series of tests:
At 1200 rpms I had 14.7 volts at the alternator (+ probe on the post leading to the battery and - probe grounded to the back of the alternator case) and 14.10 at the...
If I may add a question since I'm having an issue similar to Sonny.
I'm working on a 68 Charger with a 318. At idle I have 13.6 volts at the battery (which is brand new) and the ignition side of the voltage regulator and with the lights on it drops to 12.7. With the lights off and rpms up...
I have the idle worked as good as good can be and have been happy with the results, but the carb gradually started chugging a little again and lost power. I checked the plugs and sure enough the # 8 cylinder plug was completely fouled and covered with oil. This is the second time it has...
I did the same thing once and had no success finding a locksmith willing to even look at my 68. Therefore, I had to do what was suggest previously, pull out the back seat and crawl in through the trunk with a flash light. You have two options once you are back there if I recall correctly. (1)...
I used to be stationed in Germany as well (Hohenfels & Schwienfurt) and drove around those back roads . . . but unfortunately I was in a four-banger Opel.
That is interesting Cranky! I've been anxious to find and drive a 70 or 71 in order to check out the suspension. My Uncle had a 71 years ago that I rode in but I was too young to know what to look for. I did go ahead and put a set of front disc brakes from the Ram Man which significantly...
I originally came with a 318 and a manual transmission. By the time I got it nearly ten years ago it had a 383 with a 727 and the shifter on the dash. No AC or radio and at the suspension is slightly more advanced than a Model T. But I like it!
