In 1963 which car manufacture dominated the NHRA?

CORRECTION to this post - It was the 62 LW Galaxies that got bumped from Stock on build #s. Also re the Z11, there is some doubt that it was build #s that bumped them - it was more likely that the GM withdrawal from racing convinced NHRA to use the ‘Not publicly available’ rule…after Chrysler...

    1966 Plymouth Belvedere I 426 HEMI`s: let`s track them down!

Enjoying the thread Tobias. FWIW , ‘Flat hood‘ Street Hemis ran SS/D in 1971. Here’s some class breakdown history...its a little confusing. 1967 ALL Street Hemis inc O23 cars ran SS/B in 67, after being re-factored to 480hp by the NHRA. for 67, GTXs and O23 cars could both run the cold air...

1967 Super Stock Coronet, the WO23

It is generally accepted that the O23 SS cars were not ‘acid dipped’, only the 65 O1s had that treatment. They ran a rear seat, so it would be illogical to ‘dip’ the body shell. In fact, a lot of established Mopar racers like Jack Werst heavily criticised the weight of the O23s - he referred...

    Tuning a 5.7 Hemi with a Carb HELP ***

Hi Ive been running a dual quad 6.1 with the MSD box for 8 years. I’d like to examine your timing curves, both RPM and MAP. I have a suspicion your MAP curve is not set up correctly and is pulling timing from your RPM curve. I’ve added a pic of my timing curve - note there is nothing below...

In 1963 which car manufacture dominated the NHRA?

OK...Some nice pics on this thread but a couple of inaccuracies.... 1 - The 409/427 430 HP Z11 was NOT the ‘Mystery motor’ - it was a stroked and bored derivative of the 409 - 55 Z11 Impalas built. The ‘Mystery motor’ was a seperate casting with completely different heads - being more similar...

Regarding the 67 S&M cars. RO23 - Buddy bought it in May of 1967 from longtime sponsor Gate City Motor Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ronnie was quite successful in this car, driving it to victory at the 1967 Bristol Springnationals. This was the only factory RO ’67 Hemi car the team...

    Thrust button/Green bearing question.

Greetings I am swapping my factory bearings to green bearings. I know they’re not as durable, but Ive had good luck with them in the past and like the convenience. I’m running a clutch sure grip centre. My question is, do I have to remove the thrust button in the centre or will my axles...
