No, no valve notches, Just small (like 1/4") notches in the corner Likely for piston direction indication. They are totally flat.

Stock heads? I am going aftermarket so I guess I could improve the compression with the head a bit.

This is probably a dumb question. I have a 71 440 I am assembling and the pistons are flat top (with small notches on one side), can I assume these are the stock pistons? If so, without fully measuring, can we guess at the compression would be? I am pretty sure they are the pistons that came...

Now this makes sense. I repaired the inner structure of the hood and it did not have this notch. That might be a part of the problem. Let me check all my alignment again and make sure. Thanks for all the advice guys! RGAZ

Can I see a picture of your hood pinch weld near the hinge?

Yes, inner fender wells are replaced. But that does not change how the hood lays in the fender trough. Hood is original and hinges too. Was not in an accident but a lot of the front clip has been replaced.

One more pic, this is the raised area that interferes. See how it comes up way before the back hinge bolt? This is the mating area. I think I will need to either modify the hood pick weld or the fender itself. Up for ideas. RGAZ

It’s clearly hitting that higher area with the pinch weld of the hood.

Better pic… See how the front is deep and by the hinge it is shallow? I don’t have old fender to compare and the drivers is also missing. So nothing to compare to.

I have a 69 satellite fender I am fitting on a 69 roadrunner and it appears that the top of the fender interferes with the edge of the hood near the hinge. It appears to have a form that extends further and does not allow the hood to close. You can see the end of the form at the top pic...
