    Slowness Thoughts

Thanks for all the replies. Definitely not perception issue due to driving modern cars awhile. I used to drive this car every day and I know it should have more power. The cam was in it originally when it ran faster so I dont think its that. It sounds good like loud muscle car rumble, when you...

Verified, I am getting all three gears when we manually put them in each one..

    Slowness Thoughts

I am not feeling a kick down for sure when stomping on it at 45mph. I should have noted this is an automatic transmission so I cannot manually shift it. I thought I could feel it go into all 3 gears as I drive however. Will need to check that again to make sure it is not starting in 2nd gear I...

    Slowness Thoughts

I do not know much about the ins and outs of transmissions but this sounds highly plausible.

    Slowness Thoughts

It is the popular purple cam upgrade for the 383. It was installed when I bought the car 20 years ago and the car had good power at that time so probably not the cam I think..

    Slowness Thoughts

Recently just finished up my 1970 Road Runner project. It has a 383 engine, eddlebrock manifold, Holly 4 barrel Carburetor, purple cam upgrade, headers, turbo walker exhaust, new plugs, wires, starter etc..new fuel system as well. We also put in a rebuilt torqueflight 727 transmission with a...

Too rich - secondary float adjustments Holley

Checked the oil via dip stick, smelled like gas mixed with the oil. Going to adjust the secondary floats and check the vacuum then change the oil.

Too rich - secondary float adjustments Holley

Thanks guys for the great responses. Going to adjust the secondary floats and check the vacuum and go from there. These responses help in case I need to dig even deeper also. Not sure when I’ll get time to work on it but will try to provide update later. Thanks.

Too rich - secondary float adjustments Holley

Amateur here been SLOWLY rebuilding this 70 Road Runner 383 engine and have it running with a new 4160 Holley carb. The car has been reeking of gasoline every time we start it up. Today we (I think successfully) adjusted the floats on the primary bowl of the carb, gas was too high in the bowl so...

    Oil Pressure above 60psi

Thanks for all the responses. Sounds like nothing I should worry about right now. Agree, gotta keep an eye the gauge so that it doesnt blow oil out everywhere if it gets too high. I dont think im in that danger zone hopefully!

    Oil Pressure above 60psi

Hello, I finally have my 70 Road Runner running well however the oil pressure seems high. The original gauges no longer work so we hooked up a aftermarket mechanical guage where the oil runs through the line to the back of the guage. It consistently shows above 60psi. The oil mark on the...

Choosing Carburetor for 1970 Road Runner 383

I think we found the main issue. We were doing all this with the hood off. When we put the hood on, we realized we had the air grabber hood vacuum lines open the whole time which was causing a vacuum leak when the hood was off. Now that we realized that, turned the switch off, connected the air...

Choosing Carburetor for 1970 Road Runner 383

Just now got my car in shape to drive a bit (had to replace the whole fuel system due to tank corrosion). Still not enough time driving to know how I like the carb yet (750 CFM Holley 0-80459SA). The hood is still off the car but it seems to have a lot of fume smell to it. We also notice drops...

1970 Road Runner Fuel Delivery Issue

Good news. We installed the tank ourselves and it looks like it is all hooked up well. In case anyone is wondering, the ECS lines that hook from the tank to the canister are two sizes, two are 3/4" and the other two are 1/4". Anyways, installed the tank and got everything looking like it is...

1970 Road Runner Fuel Delivery Issue

Got all my parts except for the rubber ECS vapor lines. Do you know what size rubber fuel lines I need to buy to connect the 4 ports from the side of the tank to the vapor separator canister in the trunk? Is there a different size required for the hose that goes to valve cover or hose that goes...
