    Heartbreaking News About My Charger

On Sep 2, 2023 the unthinkable happened. First and foremost, let me say that thankfully, no-one was physically harmed. My 1968 Dodge Charger R/T caught fire inside of the garage, which is integral to my home. I can't post any pictures at the moment because the garage is sealed off like a crime...

    Fuel Gauge accuracy

Well it seems this little drama isn't over yet. Last evening I took the car out, and knowing that the tank for sure is full, I looked at the gauge and the needle was significantly past the full mark. That tells me the resistance coming from this sender when the tank is full is off enough to...

    Fuel Gauge accuracy

Aftermarket tank. Before I installed this newest sending unit, I dropped the tank and installed the sender while I could still see it through the filler hole. I made sure nothing was interfering with its range of motion. I'd had that problem with another sender, so I knew to look for that. Then...

    Fuel Gauge accuracy

After acting on a hunch, I checked the tank. I was able to add almost 5 gallons today, that means the auto-shutoff at gas station fuel pump shut off way before the tank was full. I did add some afterward, but I guess it wasn't enough. The tank probably was only 3/4 full, that's why my gauge only...

    Fuel Gauge accuracy

My original sender is long gone, so there's no option of rebuilding it and re-installing it. The one that's in there now is a new chinese crapper, but that's all that I could find and I figured it's better than no gauge at all. The problem is that once installed it sucks for accuracy. I had...

    68 Charger Volt/Ammeter gauge issue

That picture was taken a startup, after running for a few minutes the needle did settle down. The battery was a little low from sitting for a while.

I just put everything back together and the ammeter is working again! Thanks to the great guys on FBBO. I couldn't have done it without your help. The pictures in order are: 1. Key off; 2. key on, engine off; 3. key on engine running..

    68 Charger Volt/Ammeter gauge issue

Does anyone know where to source a replacement insulator? There is one one the inside and one on the outside of the ammeter gauge. The one on the inside was in pretty bad shape. I circled one in the attached picture. It's not mine, I found the picture in another thread.

    68 Charger Volt/Ammeter gauge issue

Here are some pictures of my ammeter. When I removed the gauge lens, the needle was still stuck at +40. I barely touched it and it moved back to the center and it is moving freely now. I can see nothing wrong with it, nothing is warped, cracked or burned. I spoke with John Wolf, he's the one...

    68 Charger Volt/Ammeter gauge issue

Which wire going to the ammeter comes directly from the battery, the red wire or the black one?
