Hey man, do you get this figured out? I just went through a similar nightmare myself and may be able to offer some advice.

My first Transmission pull and install is in the books thank you for everyone’s help in here. It’s running fantastic! A list of things that were wrong. Lurch rod was extended which wore out all of the z bar linkage. Over Center spring wasn’t removed when they put a centerforce clutch in...

Got it in today! And everything looks great! I’ve got play in the throwout bearing so it is no longer resting on the fingers. I took my time this morning pulling everything out, double checking it all. I think having the input shaft that far in aligned the clutch much better than the alignment...

    Throwout bearing touching fingers.

Getting closer yall, I guess. I spend 5 hours today trying to put the trans back in to no avail. I’m using a trans jack, guide pins, and I’ve got it about an inch from the bell housing. I loosened the pressure plate once I knew that the splines on the input shaft was catching to try and loosen...

I can’t remember the exact number now but I did measure it from the recess today and it was just right at an inch.

Brewers confirmed that the 5.72 is in the area where that is supposed to be.

Measurement from the friction surface of the flywheel to the trans mounting surface of the bell housing is 5.72in The height of the pressure plate to the part of the fingers that the TO bearing touches is 2.95in

Thats what my brain was telling me. If anyone has a flywheel for an externally balanced 440+6 lying that they’d like to take measurements and post, that would be pretty rad.

I don’t have a picture of the new TO bearing at the moment.

He literally said “Yeah I don’t know what to do with that 1 1/4 measurement you’re giving me, that’s not how we measure flywheels.” But he did say that it’s an OEM flywheel so it should be correct for the application. That was the one part of my interaction that I really didn’t understand. The...

I will measure this when I get the flywheel back on tomorrow. I meant to do it today before I took it off and forgot.

    Throwout bearing touching fingers.

Well yall. Unfortunately on multiple phone calls today with Brewers the only thing that they saw wrong with my setup was that I still had the over center spring on the clutch pedal. Which would not change anything about me not having any clearance between the TO bearing and the fingers. I took...
