Just wanted to hop on here and say this is FINALLY resolved. Moving to the solid state regulator recommended by @Bird 426 did the trick. I went with the Regitar branded unit, looks like the original and was a good price. Thanks to all who chimed in to help me resolve this!
Just took a look, not bad pricing, woudl make a good fall back. Figured I would poke around on here first and see if anyone had anything a bit more old school and in need of a home haha.
I am looking for an aftermarket tachometer. Can be very simple, just needs to read accurately. Size isn't important either. I need to use it to calibrate my factory tach. I may also be in the market for oil pressure and coolant temp gauges, specifically electric. Does not have to be in...
Big progress over the past few days. FINALLY got the charging system working. After a full-field test of the alternator confirmed it is working great, I once again turned my sights to the regulator. This time I decided to swap in a solid state unit as recommended by another member in my other...
I am hoping it is not a wiring issue, as I splashed out on brand new wiring harnesses front to back (including the ludicrously expensive underdash one for a '66 Charger.)
I have a feeling it has to be something with the regulator, but I REALLY don't want to buy a third one before confirming the...
Ok so I am STILL at it. I put in the new regulator and the car immediately started charging nice and strong. Even better with some RPM. I wrapped up and drove the car home, but just a few minutes into the drive the ammeter dropped back to drain again. I discovered one of the brushes had...
A few more photos from the last round of rolls I had developed. Some of Voodoo, and some from the show at the Don Garlits museum. All of these were taken on my little Olympus using a few different film stocks.
Sounds like you are going through a few similar things to me. Playing the balancing game during my final tuning phase. Had the idle dialed in nicely, but had an issue with the car wanting to stall out when applying the brakes to come to a stop. I bumped the idle up some which helped but now...
After the last round of testing on the charging system, I narrowed it down to definitely being an alternator issue. Last night I was able to get the alt back out of the car and crack it open. I had a suspicion that one of the brushes did not seat correctly when I put it back together after...
I had a lot of fun driving it around with no hood on for a week, but it was time to get the engine bay covered up. We were super lucky and had no rain but being Florida, I did not want to count on that lasting forever. The hood on the car was in pretty rough shape with a really notable rust...
