I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.... 74 RR built 360. camshaft broke driving, (sat 17 years) pulled motor. rebuilt it, added melling high volume oil pump, still have low pressure at gauge...been trying to diagnose it but another problem arose. good luck to you my friend, ive exhausted every option
so this past weekend i installed a new torque converter and flexplate for the small block and a new fuel pump as well. and the sound is still there. i was thinking harmonic balancer...so for shits. i took it off and started it real quick and still made the noise. so its behind the timing cover...
that would make sense but what i dont get is that i had the motor running for roughly 4 hours before this sound started happening. so i think ill be buying a new harmonic balancer, torque converter and a full trans rebuild kit. and goin from there
ok so here is what i have. i pulled the motor on my 74 roadrunner and rebuilt the 360 motor. i took the small block flex plate off and put on a new big block flex plate and a torque converter out of a 70 satellite with a 440. Before mating the tranny with the motor, i noticed fluid from the...
not the fuel pump. thinking input shaft bearing is causing the torque converter to bounce of the bellhousing, which makes sense cause i found marks below and above the flywheel
so i have a stethoscope that i used to listen around the motor while it was running and the chattering is coming from the bellhousing. well i can say that when i pulled the motor there were marks in the housing directly below and above the flywheel. i grabbed the input shaft and tried to see if...
mechanical...does sound like its coming from that area...was thinking harmonic balancer or fuel pump, so i was going to replace the harmonic balancer and switch to an electric fuel pump and hope for the best
so i rebuilt my small block over the last couple months..what i did was strip the engine down to the block, did not remove the crank, just everything else. installed new rings, rod bearings, double roller timing chain, jegs performance cam (.449) oversized valves in heads, dual plain highrise...
there's a long story behind that one. at the time my father and I were rebuilding a 71 cuda 383/727 and we needed parts, so after searching and searching we found a guy in florida, whos wife got into a car accident and he needed to sell his car collection...one car there was the 70 cuda covered...
hey guys, names iggy. big mopar guy....i currently own a 70 cuda, 440 /727 number matching with 3600 original miles...and a 74 plymouth roadrunner, numbers matching with 150,000 on body and 0 on motor. (just put in) pic too come!
