I am Freakin' Starving...

Gone thru it 2 times already. Remember that when they have got you under the influence of those drugs, you will not remember anything you may have said to those nurses

How old were you guys when you did your first one?

Had my first last fall at 45, my father died of bowel cancer at 43...I am clear with no polyps, I was pretty nervous before, but very glad I had it done.

As an ER nurse I give the Versed and Fentanyl when they do endoscopy procedures to remove food stuck in people's throats. It's interesting to watch the screen when these are done. But I was thankful I was out during my procedure.

Good to hear that your exam went well Cr8crshr.
I've had one. Need another one soon.
Back in the 80s I had a lower GI exam that was probably the state of the art back then. Had to starve myself for 3 days and than do the laxatives before I went in to the hospital. They took me into this dark room with a huge X-ray machine in it and this big Swedish nurse named Helga (I'm not kidding) took this hose and pumped what seemed like a 40lbs of Barium up my ***. They used to use Barium as a contrasting agent because it shows up so well in an X-ray and it has the consistency of wet cement. After the exam and crapping out as much of the barium as I could, I went to my favorite pub and had a double bacon cheeseburger and a couple of pints of beer. I can still remember how good that burger was after not having solid food for 3 days.

Now what the Hell is that supposed to mean??? You've only got a couple more years???Man you are just getting into your prime of life so I wouldn't be so fatalistic about Life unless you know something for certain.

Procedure went really smoothly and no bung hole discomfort after that Glititely Drink. Get to wait another 5 years for a follow up though. But a good diagnosis today. Next up us an operation to remove a Lypoma and then Cataract surgery for my right eye. Then I should be good as new...:blob1:

I went when I was 48 & I was told all good that was 5 years ago now, they told me 10 years to come back, then so at 58, I will need to go again, unless I think there's some reason to get another one sooner, if your family is prone to Colon Polyps {spelling?}or Colon &/or Intestinal Cancer related problems, they want you to come back in much shorter intervals...

Good to hear all is well in that area anyway

Thanks to all my well wishing friends here. Appreciate it more than I can explain. As for food yesterday...After I was released, my Brother who I was intrusted to for the next 12 hours and I drove over to a Sandwich Shop and I bought Lunch. Chowed down a Chicken Sandwich with Avocado, Lettuce, Mustard, Swiss Cheese, and Tomato on a 6 inch Sour Dough Bread. Also 2 bags of Vinegar and Sea Salt Chips and a Diet Pepsi. The Pepsi was the first in over 8 months...Gave up all Soda Pop pretty much...and boy did it all taste fantastic. Then for Dinner about 6 hours later I had 1/2 of a Chicken, Wild Rice and Vegy's. Man food never tasted so good as it did yesterday. Actually going through the process for one of these procedures really does wonders for the Constitution. Reminds one of how amazing the Human Body really is....cr8crshr/Tuck:spam1:

Congrats cr8crshr on the happy colon! Good luck on the others but I'm sure they're no sweat.

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me back then too, except mine was a kidney issue that they said I needed a clean GI to get a good xray. At the Dr office the nurse told me, "I gotta give you a kit." This was a Friday and my test was scheduled for Monday. She gave me a box and said don't plan on going anywhere this weekend. I opened it up and there were some laxative pills, a string of suppositories, and a glass bottle of stuff that looked like orange soda but the label said "Bowel Evacuant." That was the longest weekend of my life.

When I got done with the test, I ordered a large supreme pizza for lunch and ate damn near the whole thing.

I've had 2 already at 64. Found 2 polyps on my first and all was "clean" on the 2nd. The evacs were not good on either so I had to have 2 enemas at the hospital. Don't remember anything after counting to 2 until when coming out of both anesthesias I remember 2 mighty farts that echoed for about a minute. Never did remember what the doctor told me, glad my wife was there. So far, all's clear. Glad yours came out good also.
