I'm in need of some tech advise.

My challenger is equipped with a pair of very heavy duty 1.20" thick torsion bars. Although it corners like a porsche, the spring rate is too heavy, even for my european standards.
Is it possible to turn the torsion bars down to, say 1,00" thick, without compromising the structural integrity?
Maybe someone has done it before or can advise me on dealing with spring type metal.

Thanks for the help,

Antoon

No, don't do that......it's spring steel. It's probably not straight enough to throw it in a lathe anyways.

They aren't that expensive. Jegs is selling sets of .92" or .96" Mopar Performance bars for $227. with free shipping.

Im sure you could work up a trade with a member on here that's building a pro touring car.

Ok thanks. I will get a pair of new ones instead.
What thickness should I choose for a firm ride?

Thanks,

Antoon

I'm not sure if they would be too stiff in a challenger (assume curb weight is less than a B body), but I have .96" in mine which are a good compromise, but if you want firm, I'd go 1"
