What is the recommended oil weight and brand for a 1968 coronet with a 7.2L 440? Thanks for the information.

since the early 60's I have run a multi grade premium oil and the past 30 years or so run 20/50 exclusively. Bradd Penn now because of zinc. I used valvoline and pennzoil in the 60's.

10-40 in mine. Amsoil Signature Synthetic high-zinc.

Brand new rebuild

If the cam hasn't been run-in I'd use Joe Gibbs "Driven" BR Oil to properly break in the cam (assuming you have a flat tappet cam) and run this oil for 400 to 500 miles then drain it, change filter then go with Joe Gibbs "Driven" HR 10/30 Oil.

FWIW There are other good oils on the market, my preference is Joe Gibbs Driven Brand.
