Up for grabs: Unmolested factory 1968 A833 4 speed, 11" cast iron Bellhousing casting #2892262, Hurst comp plus shifter with accompanying linkage/ levers and factory console shifter handle sans ball. The casting dates suggest 4/68 and that jives with the story of this being removed from a '68 383 Bee.

The set up seems to have been untouched until I just separated it. Although, I am unsure of why a 23 spline trans would come with an 11" bell. (Someone can educate me on that I hope.) I inspected the bell housing carefully and found no cracks. The shifter ran through the gears with no problems although reverse was tough with the tranny being on the floor (hard to hold it still when finding reverse). While the shifter seems to function as it should, the finish on the console shift handle is terrible. It may be able to be rechromed, but I doubt it could be brought back to as new condition.

The 23 spline input shaft looks good as does the splines on the output shaft. After pulling the side cover I spun the internals and the gears and synchronizers looked great. The shift forks exhibit minimal wear. I included a lot of pictures for you to peruse. If you need more info let me know. Sorry- there is NO clutch cover included.

I would like to unload the whole thing as one but may seperate if moved to do so. Obviously, these parts are being sold AS IS but I feel confident that they will serve you well.

I can defintiely throw this on a pallet and ship it to you via Fastenal's 3PL (on your dime). If we get that far, I can share the necessary info. It's pretty inexpensive.

Asking $950 or best offer.

I’d like to know if the 23 spline/11” bellhousing combo isn’t appropriate in some way as that is exactly what I was sold to do my four speed conversion. I could have bought the 18 spline, but it was 3x the price, and I’m building a cruiser, not a racer.

I was always under the impression that 11" clutch meant 440/Hemi and 10.5" was 340/383...looked at Brewer's website for the info on the parts I'm pedaling.

No, The 68' setup was 11 Inch cast iron. In 69' they went to 10.5 and aluminum bell housing. I also have a complete setup as described here, and it also came directly from an original 68' Superbee as well.2892262 bellhousing shows in the parts book as 383 and 440 11'' inch cast bellhousing

This clutch and flywheel combo is exactly correct for 68 and 69. In 69 the 11" bellhousing had a new casting number ...6262. The 383's came witht he 23 spline setup. The 10.5 aluminum bellhousing is a 1970 issue deal.

The one I was sold is 2892626? Looks like I got one from a ‘69, according to Brewers. Not worried about numbers, just functionality, so I guess it would work? I thought it was odd - the bell housing cost almost as much as the transmission....

Sorry - didn’t mean to hijack the thread, just thinking/typing out loud.

I'm weighing separating the set-up. If you are interested in individual pieces PM me. Thanks.

Yep- I still have all of it, but time is running out. Offers welcome via PM. Thanks!

OK, I'm open to parting out the set up now. If you need a piece or all of it let me know via PM. Thank you.
