im swapping a 360 magnum in a 1973 roadrunner and need exhaust manifolds or advice on what would fit this application without having to modify anything.

Thanks

You’re taking that motor out or putting it in?

I have a 72 factory 340 HPmanifold casting no. 3614368, shows A body by the book (drivers) that may work for the drivers side if you’re putting the 360 in it. I’m not 100% sure on 71 up b body small block manifolds, anyone?

Yeah I’m taking a smogger 400 out and putting a 360 in

Is the 400 a HP motor if it is a 2bbl the only differnce between the 2bbl and the hp is the cam the 4bbl intake and carb and the hp exhaust manifolds. The 72 manifolds should work. I have used 72 manifolds on a 73 big block. You can cross check the manifold numbers.

It’s not a hp motor, it came out of a 1978 Córdoba. So the big block and small block share exhaust manifolds??

No they don’t. I think he was saying if you decided to stick with the 400 he has manifolds for you.

Is the 360 built?

The 400 (with a 4 barrel) should have about 230 net HP, or almost as much as a 5.9 magnum.

It’s not yet, but I have most everything to make it pretty stout. The car is a base model satellite that doesn’t have numbers matching engine and transmission so I’m really not all that concerned as far as that goes. My plan is to make a good reliable cruiser without spending thousands on having the 400 rebuilt

You need 72-74 manifolds for 340/360 B/C/E. There were no "hi po" manifolds but people seem to think these are worth their weight in gold anymore. If you can find a c-body in the yards with a 360 you can score a set on the cheap. And you can buy stock headpipes.

Actually if you are into cheap cost, the 360 Cordoba manifolds should fit.The 73 RR and the doba are both b bodies. Try them before you pay a lot of money for something else

If your 400 is good you can put a magum cam a 4bbl and headers and if you get the heads shaved you can get your compresion ratio up to about 10 to 1. I did it to a 1977 motor and it runs pretty good. you might have a set of hp exhaust manifolds now. Take a pic of them I can tell to look at them. The 400 has the same heads as a 440 and a 4bbl intake from a 400 or 383 will work. The hp cam is the same cam as a 440 magnum.
