Just curious. 64 Savoy post car.

An old boy, think he's older than me, stopped by my shop yesterday. He had stopped by, a few years back, to look at my 64 SF. Tells me he lives only a few miles down the road.
Anyway, he came by, to tell me about the project 64 Savoy post car he just bought. Says on the original paperwork, it's listed as a 'Special'...which means???
I haven't seen the car, and from his description, normal 50 year old shape. No telling how many changes it's gone through. He did say it was originally a standard trans car. Though, has had floor pan kinda worked. For kicks, I can get the data plate #s.

A little excited, after hearing where he got the car...a little hole-in-the-wall town, just a few miles from Tom Bean. I was told about this old boy. At least at this time, no names of the guy, or town. Guy is 80+years old, has had a stroke/heart probs, and also told their were people that wanted to kill him! Past that, story is, he has gobs of 64 Plymouth parts, and X #s of project cars.
I've made lame attempts to find his place, but I'm not one to go banging on folks doors. Even left my # with some locals, asking if X might call me, but never happened.

Now, the guy with the 64 Savoy, and is willing to take me to him, to look for the few parts and pieces I want. All it has to do is...STOP raining!

As I know it , Special can be anything such as a fleet car, taxi, fire department, police ordered car. I could be wrong.

That’s correct it doesn’t mean it is an ultra rare 1 of 1.....it could be just a special order for a customer..

The car itself special order or not is a cool ride..love the 64’s

Yeah, kinda figured so.
Even if it has the wanted #s on the data plate, probably doesn't mean squat. Depends on what's sitting there, and what changes have been done.

Appreciate it, guys!

please! take your camera with you when you go.
this place sounds like a mopar dream.

and it has been raining all summer here in western ny state.
i am actually 2 cars behind atm because of all this rain.....
wishing you luck soon.

Can I go with you?
Lol!
Let me see what the old man is all about, first. Maybe a little touchy, considering how protective some folks are about him. I sure don't want the blame for 'something happening'.
Kinda curious, if he'd have any interest, in getting rid of the whole lot. Maybe I'll ask.

Just being curious (I'm that way), I dug out my copies of code breakdown papers, 1964 (Lynch Road).
Taxi, police, so on...listed as Fleet.
9 on the Y, is 'Special Order, alum frt'.

You guys know a heck of alot more on this, than this old man does! Still gets my ol heart pumpin'.

Yeah,I just typed it as fleet special. Working at a Dodge dealer back then in a small town you may only been ordering 1 or 2 cars compared to 100 Taxi cabs ordered in the big city. Once every 5 years the local fire department got a car that was tagged special.Along with driver's ed car car for the high school. In the late 60's we had a priest that got a 2 door sedan, black radio delete,6 cylinder the only option was a automatic. The dealer gave the church a new one every year. They were all special tag.Now this may not be the norm but when it comes to Ma Mopar it may be how the dealer typed in the order. Can't say for sure. I remember when the 69 Coronet for the church came in. It looked so good, there was just something about that black beauty.

Not forgotten...but, no tango. Not yet, anyway.

64 Savoy? Don't know, without seeing the data plate. Went out to see the car, along with the 25-30 other pieces of junk he has, sitting around. None Mopars. Has the data plate off, and in the house...so, no say.

The other guy, with all the 64 parts? Was told he's back in the hospital, getting things worked on. Maybe at a later date?
