She's the engineer behind eye-popping invention in GM's newest SUVs

Last I knew you can special order a ford excursion or a yukon/suburban with a diesel.
They stopped making the Excursion in 2006 IIRC. A Yukon/Suburban w/4WD and a turbo diesel would be ok.
I'd REALLY like that kind of low deck interior space with a CUMMINS turbo diesel, that would be IDEAL!
As previously mentioned though, new "trucks" are so DARNED EXPENSIVE!

I was told by a buddy that they’re going to have a Duramax in the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban. Also I know that around 2005/2006 they were making diesel Express vans. I’m not sure if 4x4 was an option or not. I know the Mercedes Sprinter can be had with 4x4 and diesel, unsure about the cost of a used one though.

She should of invented the ejection seat for when the wife gets yappee. That would of been more useful.

pretty sure Caravan/T&C has that but not powered as well.

OMG really?! All these years I've resisted buying an SUV because of those damn consoles but now, whoopee, what a great invention!!! Why didn't anyone else come up with that?
Genius, pure genius!!!

In February 2017, General Motors engineering department bosses called a hush-hush meeting with select engineers.

One of the design engineers at the meeting was Alex Archer, then 24 and two years out of college. She had no idea what the meeting was about or that it would springboard her career.

"They told us to please come up with this invention because we want to incorporate it in our next big SUVs," said Archer.

Drumroll please.

The invention was a power-sliding center console. It's the first storage console to be motorized. It can form different configurations, has a hidden compartment, extra storage and can convert to an armrest.

I can just imagine what that price tag would be. Definitely over 100 grand, considering a nicely optioned Suburban is 80 grand. Ridiculous.

The prices of new vehicles are wild. A girl that works for my wife just bought a new 2020 Z71. It’s got the duramax in it. Cloth seats. It was over 55k. There are some real nice vehicles out there, but they’re all over 60 grand for something full sized and leather seats.

Here's a nicely optioned Suburban near me.

Whew...... that’s more than I paid for my house on 5 acres. If my wife and I keep having children, at the rate we’re going, she’ll need one. We have a 5 month old and she’s due to have another in September. I see new suburbans around here all the time, it’s hard to fathom how all these 80k suvs are running around.

I'd like to find a Ford Excursion 4WD turbo diesel...
The reason being is I want as much shared interior space as possible for the 3 Lab mix rescues and the 40 pound mini pig. They go everywhere my wife and I go together. Now it would work for me trailering our 1 car trailer, and I think it could handle a 2 car trailer too.
I don't know of ANY other turbo diesel powered, 4WD vehicle that has that much interior shared space, unless someone makes a 4WD turbo diesel van that could tow 2 cars on a trailer.
The closest Mopar I can think of is a RAM 2500 Mega Cab, and that has WAY less interior space, with the back seats folded down into a platform for the animals.
Any ideas?? My H2 works for space, but that gasoline powered LS V8 SCREAMS towing, and I'm definitely wanting a turbo diesel in the next tow vehicle I get.

spring board her career......that kills me

Three dogs and a pig?
My wife and I were introduced to 6 Lab mix puppies around 2009 when we took our chocolate Lab Cocoa camping. The mama dog was "local" to the camping area and a chocolate Lab, the daddy was probably a hunting hound that had a different kind of quarry in mind. So they were 3 weeks old and up for adoption once they were old enough. My wife went back a few weeks later and brought all 6 home. I was working as a dog trainer at Petco, and we kept the biggest male and smallest female (Tony and Bitty) and adopted out the other 4.
The 3rd dog hit the jackpot when my wife got called in to work one Saturday and took a different route home than usual because of traffic in the heart of downtown New Orleans. She saw a little black Lab puppy (or so we thought-Lab) trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic by St. Joseph's church on Tulane Ave., a very busy street. She picked her up and brought her home, and suggested I could adopt her out too. Well, an hour later the hooks were in, I named her Laney and declared that she wasn't going anywhere.
2nd pig...Suzanna Elizabeth Pig, but we call her Sue E. Pig for short...My wife had 2 mini pigs before we got together, but didn't have them anymore. I wasn't interested in having a pig. That didn't seem to matter...
We got the first one, Rusty, when he was the last of a litter. Around 2 years old, he developed a cough and it turned out to be a mass on his lungs, and it was really bad, no chance for recovery, so we put him to sleep. I definitely didn't want another one, but at least I got to name her.
So yeah, 3 dogs and a 40 pound "mini pig"
