Does anyone know where a guy can find the black silicone/adhesive that was used to mount the DODGE emblems (hood and trunk - '67 Coronet R/T). Each letter has 2 prongs....but they are flat (not the screw type).

Under the hood was gooped a bunch of black silicone type stuff to keep each letter in place - what did the factory use? Not super concerned with getting the exact stuff, but what do you guys recommend now that I want to re-install those letters? Just some regular old black Permatex?

Thanks!

Adhesive was not used, speed nuts on the studs. There was some sealer on the inside of the speed nuts. Something like seam sealer, or like what was used to hold the vapor barrier in place before putting the door cards on.

I'll vote for Permatex Ultra Black rtv

The posts on each letter were smooth on mine - no nuts at all (haha). Wonder if someone took them off? Think I’ll just use some permatex I have in the garage. Thanks everyone!

Tony's Parts has new ones, best I remember $69 a set.

The studs will be smooth. You use the sheetmetal emblem nuts and they cut the stud. No adhesive. If anything, a little butyl sealer on the nut.

So I wonder why I had to spend about an hour chipping away at this black goop crap under my hood to remove those letters before I wrapped the hood. Same stuff is inside the trunk on the same emblems - just figured with the smooth studs that’s the way they did them - R/T emblem studs were splined with nuts so thought it was odd the dodge letters were not - and no nuts to speak of. Thanks!
