looking for templates or references to make the Elephant fit!

You don’t need to modify the shock tower unless you’re planning on being able to remove the head with the block in the car.

Nope you dont but the notch cut out in the front corner is nice if you are using headers

A Hemi will fit fine with Schumacher mounts.

I'm told this is a picture of the finished product on an original A990 car.

thanks for the assistance, and yes, i do have the old Shumaker mounts.

ive heard these raise the engine slightly...is this true?

so, heres my current shock tower, im trying to figure out whats going on with the shock mount area, anyone care to walk me through this?

You cut the area, carefully pictured in earlier post. Turn the cut out over and weld it back in.

Just how much more room does this give you. I'm also guessing if using rb 440 block this would be a good improvement.

Lets you remove valve cover without jacking engine up. X Ram makes you pull v cover straight out. Pic stock shock position, note tip of shock.

So if I did this with a rb block I would have even more room.
Don't think would an RB as much, only moving the dish where the shock tip is. Look at pictures earlier in thread.

Its all about where the tip ends up in addition to lowering. Typically when just cutting and flipping it lowers the tip but the angle and trajectory changes and can make things worse. This is especially true when v-8 318 K frame and retro fitting a big block. Your shock angle needs to remain the same and tight against the back side of the tower. With the Shumacher mounts this may be different, and the angle doesnt matter as long as you lower the tip enough but not sure.

Best bet is to find a real one, fab a cardboard or other type of model and replicate, in my opinion. Surprised someone has not done this as the shock towers are quite reasonable at 100 per. Id buy a now one and mod then install if I had to do it all over again!

No matter how you do it, test fit the motor (with valve covers, headers, etc.) before final paint. Please! LOL.

Saw an NOS original for sale on ebay 10 or 15 years ago. Think it sold around $650.
