Wandering Aimlessly Across the Territory of the United States

I thought it strange the UPS driver dropped off the crankshaft without collecting any import/brokerage fees from me. Well today, the shipper in the USA just received a UPS bill for $53.75 for government/broker fees. I will have to reimburse him. I thought it was too good to be true.

I have had generally had good service from UPS.
However, over a week ago a package showed up on my porch that was not mine. (delivered/abanded at a wrong address).
I spent some trouble on the UPS site trying to find a way to resolve this and after considerable time I got a human to talk to.- I gave them the tracking number on the package and my name address and my phone number.
So a few days pass and the package remained on my porch.- I was going to my bank and a UPS store was adjacent.-Hmm I will just give it to them.--NOT.
The UPS store would not allow me to leave the package in their store. -I asked them what is further expected of me after already reporting it as abandon at my house. ( I told them that I would not attempt to locate the address of the receiver on the label and deliver it my self.)
They gave me a phone number to call--:)--guess what.--I re-reported all the information again to an actual human.

Update---this rather heavy package (sent 2nd-day air) is still sitting on my porch awaiting a pickup.

I feel frustrated with UPS about this but also feel compassion for the intended recipient. -- Should I effort to deliver this to the correct address myself? Or should I let porch pirates make that call?

If there is a name on the package, I would try to find the persons phone number to give them a call. Can also search facebook to try and message them. They can then complain to UPS or come get the package themselves. This happened to me also, the phone number was on the packing slip.

Thanks--That is where my instinct leads me. -My effort to date is to give UPS something to chew on about its customer-friendly service.
BTW--I have no intention to have anything to do with "Facebook" it reeks of lasting evil. I have personal experiences of deep family disasters (that are permanent) directly linked to "Facebook"
