Alzheimer’s Test

Something to boost your morale!

French Professor Bruno Dubois, Director of the Institute of Memory and Alzheimer's Disease (IMMA) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière - Paris Hospitals, addresses the subject in a rather reassuring way:

"If anyone is aware of his memory problems, he does not have Alzheimer's"
1. I forget the names of families .
2. I do not remember where I put some things .

It often happens in people 60 years and older that they complain that they lack memory. "The information is always in the brain, it is the "processor" that is lacking."

This is "Anosognosia" or temporary forgetfulness.

Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease.
The most common cases are:
- forgetting the name of a person,
- going to a room in the house and not remembering why we were going there,
- a blank memory for a movie title or actor, an actress,
- a waste of time searching where we left our glasses or keys .

After 60 years most people have such a difficulty, which indicates that it is not a disease but rather a characteristic due to the passage of years .

Many people are concerned about these oversights hence the importance of the following statement:
"Those who are conscious of being forgetful have no serious problem of memory"
"Those who suffer from a memory illness or Alzheimer's, are not aware of what is happening."

Professor Bruno Dubois, reassures the majority of people concerned about their oversights:

"The more we complain about memory loss, the less likely we are to suffer from memory sickness."

Now, for a little neurological test.....

Only use your eyes.

1- Find the C in the table below!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

2- If you have already found the C, then find the 6 in the table below.

3- Now find the N in the table below.
Attention, it's a little more difficult!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

If you pass these three tests without a problem:
- you can cancel your annual visit to the neurologist.
- your brain is in decent working shape!
- you are far from having any relationship with Alzheimer's.

Pass! Now the wife is the one I am worried about.

Hell, I've had these problems ever since I can remember!

My Grandma had it for 8 years back in the 70's when they really didn't know much about it. Then my dad had it for almost 15 years. He died 3 years ago on the day before his 91st birthday. Watched him go from owning and running a multi-million dollar business to become a total vegetable. Terrible disease. He was adopted so no genetics there. Now my two brothers and I are wondering if and when one of us is going to have it. I'm the youngest at 60 but I'm seeing one of my brothers that is 66 having more memory problems. I've told my kids that I don't want to end like my father and don't want to put them through years of hardship. If I end up having I'll probably wander out into the desert and just keep wandering until I die.

I agree with the above. My dad would ask the same question over and over again every couple minutes. Didn't have a clue. My mom just turned 92 yesterday and has been having more memory problems as of late but nothing like my dad had.

This echos my wife's mom, and two aunts. She is already showing signs.

Pass barley the c was causing issues almost like it was hopping around even after I found it it still appears in other spots

My wife has been in a Nursing Home since March, she called last week and instead of saying hello and asked who I was.....:praying:

Score !
now what was the question ?

Smoked the "test" just fine, but then I love that sort of crap....
I just can't remember what the prize was?

Passed the test easily. Still can’t find my keys.....

my 84 year old mother has Parkinson’s and in nursing home. Medical professional who can’t even remember her kids anymore. So sad to watch....and with the China virus haven’t been able to visit since January.

Dad had it the last two years. Some days were better than others. After his stroke it was difficult for him to talk. On the good days it really pissed him off. On the bad days he would just stare out as if into a void.

That's rough. I have seen my Mother and Grandmother suffer from Alzheimer's. My mother would talk to herself in the mirror not knowing it was her reflection.
Prayers sent to you and your family.
