Depressing movies that you only watched once....

Braveheart is another one for me.

I was able to walk on the ground of the Battle of Culloden, long before I saw the movie. I can honestly say that just being on the ground sent shivers up & down my spine....I kid you not. It was a freaky feeling...like I had been there before.

The Deer Hunter. I saw it in a Norfolk, Va (military town) theater when it first came out. Very intense. Maybe a tad bit too real, but I don't know. Afterwards, no one leaving the theatre spoke a single word; not even in the parking lot.

Disturbing. Depressing? A very well done movie.

I hate alec b but he is a great actor.
 
The Social Dilemma, it's on Netflix now.
It's a must see, since it will show you how and why our society is on the verge of destruction.
Better be quick, before Big Brother has it removed.

One of the best movies ever!
 
The Titanic, what a horrible and depressing movie... definitely never watch it again. If the movie was all about the actual catastrophe minus the whole romance I might have liked it a bit more.
 
I’ve never seen Blackmirror (Netflix) mentioned for shows to watch. It’s a series of individual stories and very dark, almost Outer Limits and Twilight Zone but worse. The first one was about the near future civilization that must “rate” every human interaction for better rents, etc. The one about mechanic watch dogs put a shiver down the spine and for you Star Trek fans there is a good episode for you’s.

Well the Charger had a lot of miles on it already...I think it was 600 miles...
 
Diary of Anne Frank...Schindler's List. That 'era' of mass genocide was horrific I usually opt out of watching. Flicks that were scarier than any horror movies to me were Three Days of the Condor and Marathon Man.

The Accused, Katie says Goodbye; are what I can recall at the moment. Second one almost made me cry.
Yeah I won't deny that i objectify women and see them as disposable vessels of sexual pleasure, but seeing them abused or raped like in the aforementioned movies is truly disturbing to me. I see nothing wrong with admiring a woman for her keen sexuality, but violating her because of it is just wrong. Consequently, I only had the nerve to watch those movies once and never will again...
 
The Rocky Horror Picture Show or something like that, hated it will never watch that again. English Patient, once was enough. Old cowboys and something, where the guy finds the drug money and the pursuer kills everybody. More but memory is fading
 
The last one you mentioned may be No Country for Old Men.
Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Woody Harrelson.
 
Where the Red Fern Grows. Pretty light hearted till the end. It's a tear jerker, old movie.
 
I don't mind a sad movie that is thought provoking and tells a good story. There are some though that seem dark and gloomy from start to finish. Those sometimes seem like they are applying for an Oscar nomination. Rarely ever has a comedy or action movie been a serious contender.

Jarhead was a downer. Not all war movies are like that for me. Someone mentioned The Hurt Locker.
It was a couple of years after that movie came out that I learned that the title was a phrase used long before the movie.
I actually liked that movie. Jeremy Renner was a Military Bomb Tech that seemed to be a real adrenaline junkie. He thrived on the danger and the thrill.
