So I was at ZMAX dragstrip this weekend & this happened

We lost the NHRA nationals in Phoenix. The track is sold.
I liked going but would have turned my back on the motor home thing.
Now Tucson is the closest track after next April.
Rumor has it Arroyo Seco in Deming is gearing up to reopen after 2 1/2 years.

Bob! Representin' and suckin' in the gut for the young lady!

BTW, Bob's YouTube channel just went over 500K views! He's working
hard at it and it shows.

BTW, those who just want to see "the race" - fast forward to 4:00 in the video to skip all the
huckstering...

I used to drag race at Sears Point in the eighties with others who often raced too. You could run open headers, and the entry was cheap. I believe there was an economy or import class back then. I saw some fast rotaries and other modified import’s, albeit very few of them, it was mostly V8s. After years I returned to race again, and man had thing’s changed.
The entry was expensive, place was overly full, no open exhaust and way fewer V8s. People were racing bone stock imports of every make and model, most 20 seconds or slower. There were 4x4 trucks with hay bails in back on the strip. The food prices were through the roof as well. I know the track needs money from as many people as possible, so I try not get too bitter, but it’s kinda sad is all. I am grateful I had a chance to experience racing in the eighties however
