Hey all,...Need a replacement 8 bolt 426 Stock bore , stroke & journal specs for 2700 gm Bobweight crank..... Considering either Molnar or Mopar Performance forged units for 727 trans 1/4 mi wheels up slicks action....Any suggestions, pros or con for a trouble free Reliable install ? ....Thx,...tom

Molnar cranks are nice. Call Tom and ask him about the bobweight. It's lists at 2350. But the 2 4.500" stroke I've had needed metal removed to get to that number. Newer style light rods and pistons with .990 pins are a better choice.

Seems Molnar is out of stock 'till X--mas .... Anyone used the MP crank or who makes it ? I've heard a fair % of other popular Chinesium sourced units have shipped with tight journals & need rework to fit right..

I broke a 4.150 stroke MP crank in half at #3. Also have a MP 4.500" crank cracked at #3.

Unbelievable Doug ! .... That's why I ask as I only have experience with factory production '69 street hemi Crank, which I've totally abused since '69 & never had any probs with..... I can't imagine breaking this massive '69 factory unit ! Is there that much build difference between the Oem & the MP cranks ??

Campbell Ent. sells K1 for 805, or Molnar for 968. I'd probably grab one of those if I were in the market for an imported crank.

The MP cranks are from Scat.

I run my Molnar (wedge head) to 7200 on a normal run. Went 9.02@149 last weekend. Good stuff. I run his rods as well.

Yeah Doug,...Your Molnar is hangin in there keepin in together....& They're out of stock !! Oh well,...Not Knowing any better, I thought All the MP stuff was built like the '70 company Mopar parts.....like Overbuilt Reliable & fits rite...

Mopar Performance was a shell company. They didn’t make anything, they merely contracted it out and marketed it under the MP name. Some of it was good stuff, some was junk. Their “tech” people couldn’t engineer their way out of a wet paper bag. Mopar people are unfortunately numb to the reality and heavily bought into the hype.

Seems so H runner..... hopefully, someone will report on these P5429898 rods, good or not so.... Strangely, "P4532738". Is cast into the rod & I can't find that listed anywhere !

Hey Doug, that's another good thing for me to hear, as my builder specd the 4.5 stroke crank and rods from Molnar for my build. I got a lesson on their rod design from Ed at Molnar as well as the crank oiling I was asking about.
Basically he said their "skinny" appearing rods don't flex like some H beam rods that appear "thicker" do because their rods (Molnar) have more material in the web. He compared the Molnar rods to bar steel vs sheet metal on the ones that appear thicker viewed from the sides.

I agree that understanding how/why things are done make you feel better when they're are explained.

Agreed. I have an excellent alternate, but the guy who I started with has been very good to me and understanding, and I warned him in advance that I ask questions. I don't want to hijack this thread so I just wanted to thank Doug and then butt out.
