I need to replace all four 1157 sockets and the back up light 1156 sockets on my 72. The factory sockets are crimped in place to a plastic housing. I used a dremel cutter wheel and got them out. I need a socket to replace them. Any ideas on a replacements?

Have a look at these.

These ones are for 1156 bulbs.
You'll have to inquire with them if they have ones for the 1157 bulbs.

You can buy them at your local auto parts store. You'll just need to solder your original connectors on.

I am using these. Thanks for the tip. The hole for the 1157 brake turn sockets has to be drilled out to 1 1/8", the 1156 back up light socket fits right in to the stock hole. Going to work perfectly.

Are there any other choices for the back-up sockets besides Dorman or Ron Francis?

I would imagine any auto parts store has what you need. Pico or Dorman Help line are common brands for things like that. Here's a Pico. They have many different styles.

this looks like a socket for the 1157 bulb with two contacts, i just do not see the ground connector in this picture. I’m actually referring to the back-up light socket which is for the 1156 bulb with one contact. The local auto parts stores do not seem to have a anything in their computers that fits a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. In fact I came home several times with Standard motor products socket s75 but these sockets are made for the 1157 bulb so I ended up switching out the signal/taillamp sockets already . The 1156 sockets I pulled out were glued into the taillight assembly and had only one filament and the ground was soldiered to the outside of the base. I just don’t want to have to modify like soldiering or drilling taillight

Sorry to be so blunt but did you read my last sentence? "They have many different styles" Look them up yourself and see what they have to offer.

i’ve spent days in the auto parts stores and online which is why I’m posting here where I thought I might find a little help. My dad always preferred Standard Motor Products so I use the product as an example, but many of the online descriptions do not tell the buyer the application size - this one needs to 3/4” - so I am purchasing what I believe to be correct and when the item arrives, its meant for 1 1/8”opening. I was hoping for a solution that doesn’t require any modification. Is there a company that reproduces an OEM specific back-up light socket that lies in a price range somewhere in between the really cheap or really expensive and not made in China???
