What is the period correct placement for the PCV and breather on the valve covers for a 440 in a 74 RR? PCV drivers side back towards firewall? Breather passengers side front towards radiator? Currently it is opposite of what I described above. PCV is passengers side rear and breather is drivers side front. I am installing a dual snorkel air cleaner and want it to be correct. The air cleaner is a 71 or 72 with the breather connection in the back angled towards passenger side.

So nobody knows the answer? I thought this would be an easy question?

These grungy valve covers came off my 73 400. I believe this is the correct orientation based upon the filler cap being at the front of the engine. That puts the PCV at the driver's side rear. Also note the wire looms which typically run on the passenger side.

That’s what I was thinking too, but I wanted verification.

PCV drivers side rear. Breather passenger side rear.
