Finally putting the interior together in my 68 Charger. It has a rallye A/C dash frame. The glove box catch is spring loaded and the mounting holes
measures 2 1/2 inches apart. The dash frame mounting holes measures 1 1/2 inches apart.
Is there a smaller spring-loaded catch or a different type of catch ?
I really don't want to drill out 2 new holes into the frame.

Thanks

I would have to measure my 1969 but I would say 2 1/2 sounds right and 1 1/2 sounds to narrow.

Well I'm no expert on those minor details and it is possible your 1st model year got some different parts BUT I think its more likely that all '69 B-bodies got the same dashes. The only differences being a) a/c or non-a/c and b) rally dash versus standard dash. Here are some pics ... '69 standard dash, non-a/c.

Thank you for taking the time and effort taking pics. Check my pics out. I cannot figure this out. It doesn't make sense. There has to be another latch. Last resort is to center it and drill 2 more holes. It's tough because there is not a lot of room.

My 69 is 2 1/2 inches apart. Are you sure your dash frame is 1968?

I assume its a 68, it was in the car. I removed it when I had it powder coated.
It fits good, its a rallye a/c dash. I'm kind of at a loss.

I am wondering if you have a very early build 68. I know there are some odd differences.

If that's true, by any chance would you know what type latch I would need ?
No I do not. There has been posts here from time to time on early models with odd differences. Like spare tire hold down, trunk hinge torsion rollers, and other taken for granted differences. I would drill the holes. Can you post a picture of your complete dash frame.

I did not see anything mentioned on the glove box latch. But the one picture the spacing looks like it could be the narrow 1 1/2. My 68 parts book shows two numbers for b-bodies but no explanation as to what goes where. 2857100 and 2927764. If there is an odd early one it may be tough to find. I did see this on a google search. Evidently I have an early 68 dash frame. Below is the pic that was sent with the correct glove box latch ( 1 1/2 inch. )
Finally have this solved.
Thank you to all for all the pics and help.

The 68 parts book does show a break down and what looks like the wire latch as shown in your photo. Odd thing is it ends there with no group category. So you did find one?

No not yet. I just got that picture a few min. ago. I have to do some digging tomorrow.
At least now I know what I'm looking for.

Well now we're all just a little bit smarter than we were yesterday !!

And if it were me ... I'd drill two new holes and use the latch you have.
