looking for help. running a small block 360, Hughes whiplash 318 cam(213/226 @ .50 - .480/.516 Lift), aluminum heads, Edelbrock air gap intake, 1/2" spacer, long tubes. initial 15° at idle and all in at 36° at 2600 rpm
problem.
I pulled off an old 1405 and put in a new Edelbrock 1906 AVS2 . I absolutely love the responsiveness and throttle response, but issue I'm having us tuning. I can set the idle between 750-850 and the idle mixture screws do nothing. I have even tried changing, springs, rods and jets. I can't get it to lean out on idle. I have an afr gauge and at idle Afr is between 11.20-11.55. should be up around 13.55-14.00, but I can't even get it close. do I need to drill the throttle blades? I'm afraid I'm in the transition slots and off the idle circuit, but can't idle any lower. one too low for once in gear and also single wire alternator won't charge that low of rpm.
thoughts? suggestions I can try?
I can put the 1405 back on and it idles and afr is around 13.55,but that carb isn't set up stock and it has already had the blades drilled as it was on a 318 with a way to big cam.
problem.
