I need to make more room in the savoy to reposition the bench seat. The cross bar goes across the back of the bench seat, so I can't move it back. I don't race any longer and it's now a street car. I don't plan on running faster than 11.50 even when I do race the car at NSS meets. It's a very nice S&W unit with swing outs, installed by them so I hate to remove it but it would make it easier to use the car. If I decide to remove it, I'd give it away to whoever could use it; a few strategic cuts and it would be reusable..

Thoughts?

You can cut out the main hoop cross bar and reinstall one that curves further back to clearance behind the seat.

I always enjoy the NSS class! That was an excellent idea to get some room and still keep the cage!

Well, it's an 8 point and removing the seat back bar is not going to work. No other choice but to lose weight, a good thing actually. Those S&W guys sure know how to build a cage...

Holy cow , what version of a Charger was that beside crunched? Geez man that a hell of a hit!

Anything can be done with a little ingenuity. I kept my full interior. I even with through the rear seat bottom with two bars down from the main hoop to the top of the front spring perches. Also, upholstered the kirkey racing seats with a pattern to look like factory 70 seats. It does make for some effort getting in and out on the street all of the time though....

My friends 73 Road Runner looked just like that Charger after being T boned by a Suburban at 70 MPH! If his girlfriend would have been in the car at the time, she would have been closed casket dead! No joke. Think twice before pulling out in front of someone in these cars! Leave the roll cage in your car Snook!

Yeah, it's staying. Doesn't make sense to cut out a really nice S&W installed 8 point system with swing-outs. I'm already losing the weight, so I'll just keep on dropping what weight I can. I can drive the car, just tight. I may not be racing the car any longer but I'm sure sometime down the road it will see a track again...
