i have 2 early 392 hemis on the shelf that i have had for over 50 years. they were pulled from a 57 imperial 4 door with 57k original miles, and a 58 imperial crown 2 door with 99k original miles.
at the time, i had the 58 running, and it sounded good. i never heard the 57 run, as it needed a fuel pump. consider these as rebuildable core engines.
i had great plans for these engines, but time marched on, and now my age has come to the conclusion i will never do anything with these engines before i croak.
included is a weiand 2x4 intake, a pair of shorty headers, adapters to run a chevy water pump, a hot heads finned aluminum timing cover and valley cover, plus an aluminum oil filter adapter that is for a remote filter.
also included are a pair of powder coated black wrinkle finish valve covers with orange fire power lettering, and transmission adapters for the small block 727 including the crank spacers that locate the converter snout.
the engines are missing their original 4bbl intakes and iron exhaust manifolds, as well as the original generators and bracketry.
i would prefer to sell this as a package unit, so what is the worth ?
i'm located in brookville, pa. and will help load.
thanks !

Watching early hemi stuff for a number of years, since before I bought my 58 Coronet.
I have yet to learn enough, working on it.

A 331 hemi sold locally here, running, 4 barrel, had an adapter with a Muncie 4 speed and shifter. The ask was $3k so it sold for that or less.
My understanding is it was less desirable because it has the bell cast into the block, but the adapter for the Muncie is a plus.

392 without the cast in bell, my understanding is more desirable.

I looked at a half dozen early hemis, two had four barrels, one had cast in bell, all fairly complete but all removed decades ago and none ran, asking $1,500 each.
Also watched a number of them linger on fb, a 57 Dodge wagon with a hemi started at 4k, down to 1k and finally sold.

The old question of what would you ask vs what would you pay?

I think I'd want 3k, and want to pay 2k.
Probably ask more, and like dodgeboy noted, advertise in the right places.
