So I recently rewired my 69 roadrunner and the taillights only work whenever the running lights for the car are on. When the running lights are off and I press the pedal, I have no taillights. I also don’t have front turn signals but I have rear turn signals and front flashers do work. The gauge cluster lights also don’t work. I’ve checked all the connections and looked at the wiring diagram and can’t seem to find anything wrong. Does anyone know any possible reasons on why some of my lights are working and some aren’t?

Could it be something as simple as a bad headlight switch?
I don’t think so because I did try it with another switch and it made no difference. I suppose the one I tried could have been bad too but since it was doing the exact same thing I figured it probably wasn’t the switch.

You need to get a wiring schematic for your car and start tracing out the wires involved one by one. Something is mis wired, especially if everything worked prior to the re-wire.

Bad grounds can do weird things. Assuming running lights are your headlights? Taillights your brake lights? I sometimes have issues with my boat trailer. Headlights or parking lights on and I have had the taillights on the trailer work and then I would put my foot on the brake pedal and the trailer light would go out with no brake lights either. I would check the grounds first.
