Hello,

Hemi Charger hood clearance advice needed. Does anyone know distance between the top of the air cleaner and the underside of the hood?

- ‘68 - ‘69 Charger, stock hood
- “Chrome Dome” factory dual quad air cleaner lid
- Factory intake/carbs

Anyone?

It's close. My 70 Charger is a California car and has the N95 emissions and N97 noise reduction package (hood insulation) and it rubs the top of the air cleaner lid with factory dual fours street hemi inline carbs set up. Probably about 3/4" from the actual hood.

Hood pad rubs top of the chrome dome in my 66. I place a micro-fiber towel on it before closing the hood.

Hm. Sounds like it’s going to be tight. I’d do the play-doh trick but the engine isn’t in the car yet. I’d like to run 1/2” spacers beneath the air cleaner base so it clears my linkage, but I’ve got clearance concerns.

My setup is actually Edelbrock Gen 2 intake and AVS 2 carbs. Eddy says their intake is stock height, so trying to understand how much hood clearance a factory setup has, and go from there.
