Tight budget build ! The hard board healiner in my 62 Fury was shot. I'm sure some of you have replaced it with some other material ( when the price is just more than you could spend). So what material worked out for you. It has the be strong enought to not sag, and flexible enough to bend into shape. If I had rolls of $$$$ I would take it to an interior shop , but I don't.

Maybe corrugated plastic cardboard like they make signs from. I buy 4'x8' sheets at the local sign shop for use as flanging material when making fiberglass molds for $22 a sheet.

Never tried using it for headliner material, but with a can of 3M 77 spray glue you can attach anything to it.

I also buy PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) board at the sign shop that has a smoother surface that I drill 1/8" holes in for core material since epoxy won't soak into it.

It might actually be a better headliner board, as it's slicker on the surface. Any good sign shop should have some options for you.

Maybe not much help, but when my '63 Savoy wagon needed a new cardboard headliner, I got it from Jim Kramer.
It went in well, think it was around $500 maybe - that was about 10 years ago. Sedan/HT would have likely cost less.

I'm hoping to be able to do something DIY for much less $$$ , need to update alot of items, money is getting tight.

I made a package tray for my Valiant using very thin plywood wrapped with material from a craft store.

Plywood was very inexpensive, material was $17 for a half roll, which was more than what was needed.

I need a headliner as well for my 62 Dart, last thing to finish my interior. I might use my own idea on that too.
