Outside mirrors for 2nd generation Chargers

Well, I learned something new today. I never heard of Sport Mirrors for the '70 Charger, let alone painted ones. That said, I prefer the basic non-Sport chrome ones. Mine only has the driver side remote mirror.
I agree. To me the sports mirrors look to swoopy and aerodynamic for such a stylish boxy body style.

I wandered over to the 1970 Charger Registry and reviewed what they had documented for the G36 Racing Mirrors (aka: Sport). Summarized as follows:

G36 Mirror-Outside L+R Chrome became available February 12, 1970 for any body color except: EB5, EF8, FJ5, EK2, EV2, FK5, FY1, FY4, and FC7.

G36 Mirror - Outside L+R Painted became available February 12, 1970 color keyed to only: EB5, EF8, FJ5, EK2, EV2, FK5, FY1, FY4, and FC7.

I'm in your camp. My favorite is the remote style (just like your choice) with the matching pass. side non remote mirror. My '68 came with the driver's side remote only. I bought the matching aftermarket pass. side mirror (non remote). I have yet to install it.

I also I heard that the Sport "Racing" mirrors were not available until halfway through the 1970 model year so they are not the most common.
I like them. I've contemplated replacing mine with those. They are the same as the ones that came on the Darts and Dusters.

Looks like it’s 2 inches lower on the driver side.
Two inches? Really? I hope that you don't do any work in construction with that level of inaccuracy.
Look closer. The surface of the pavement is sloped. I'd never have the suspension of my car sit that far out of whack.

I know I was just messing with you, I straightened it out on my phone. It’s the cameraman that’s crooked.
Who wants to bet he’s out there checking it right now.

Yeah, this car has always been set up pretty close with about a 1 inch rake. I went with shorter rear tires 3 years ago so I tightened up the rake to about 3/4".
Cheers.....

Car looks level. The owner might be a half bubble off plumb though. :poke:

The picture I posted on page 1 was taken in 2007. That was LONG before I fell off the roof. I have no legitimate excuse.

February 12, 1970 to be exact. Wonder why they started making them available on a Thursday?

Anyway, wouldn't it be cool to find a '70 Sport "Racing" mirror Charger with a SPD of 212?

For those with passenger side mirrors, how effective are they? Can really see a car if it was in your blindspot, or the side of your garage when backing out?

They're...a reference point. Not much else. Chargers have big 'hips' and that's most of what you see in the mirror. Of course, the lenses are flat which doesn't help. I've been contemplating having a glass shop make me a convex (wide angle) lens I can stick on...not a small 'fisheye' bubble but the whole lens...but it hasn't really been a priority.

I'm especially interested in seeing driver/passenger side pictures of 1970 Chargers with the standard and optional outside mirror configurations. A front picture of the car showing both mirrors would be great too.

I haven't a clue of what was available for '68 & '69 models.

I believe the following configurations were available on 1970 Chargers:

1) Standard manual, round chrome driver mirror. No mirror on passenger side.

2) Left remote, round chrome driver's mirror and manual, round chrome passenger mirror.

3) Painted "sport" mirrors; driver remote and passenger manual. If possible, a picture of an EB5 car would be great!

4) Chrome "sport" mirrors; driver remote and passenger manual. Like @Triplegreen500 gorgeous car:

Background:
The passenger door of my EB5 blue 1970 Charger 500 was replaced after owner #1 exited the expressway and merged (literally) with a car on the frontage road. The door (and fender) are not original to the car. Therefore, I see no "problem" with installing dual mirrors on this car. I don't know which dual mirrors I will like the most, or like the least. That's why I am asking for pictures.

Yes, I'm searching for pictures on my own too. Especially, the painted "sport" mirrors.
The round chrome looks right. Mine has just the original driver side, it is round chrome.

I'm assuming the Coronet is pretty much the same. I have a mirror on each side, they aren't correct but they match, and the pass side one isn't very useful. I just assumed it was because its not the correct mirror.
Maybe one of those convex rearview mirrors are the way to go for functionality?

My '79 Chrysler has some version of the painted, sport mirrors. I got used to them, but I would look over my shoulder to double-check blind spots.

Out forward on the fenders is more practical, but NO THANKS!
