HI,
Is this cam going to be talkative ... have some kind of lope. Sound bite if you have one. OH its in my 1975 318..
OH I had to change to different springs . What came with it were almost an inch taller and wouldn't work , My machinist Didn't want to install them as he said he would have to machine the spring pockets like 60 thousands and was afraid he'd brake thru to the water jackets.. and that pressure might wipe out the cam..

Thats not a big cam that requires taller springs. You should be able to run aprox stock installed height springs which have damper coils and are a little stiffer than the factory 340 springs. No machining of the spring seats required.

I would expect that to have a slight lope in a 318. Certainly wouldn't want any larger cam without a bunch of supporting mods.

HI,
Yes that's what we did.. That kit came with huge springs (almost 1 inch taller than the stock ones) and the wrong locks they sent 4 groove locks). we (my Machinist and I) order different springs way shorter with damper coils and the proper locks.. The kit only came with 4 groove locks the the 318 has 2 and 4 groove locks .. I won't order kits anymore..

Did you CALL Comps TECH LINE & Inquire ?

Looking at the catalog, the XE262 cam for a SBM shows the recommended spring is a 901-16, which is very close to the stock 340 spring.

Should fit right on 318 heads that aren’t equipped with exhaust rotators.
And if they do have rotators, they should be replaced with std retainers along with swapping to 4 groove ex valves and locks.

Which cam? Your link was a whole page on the sellers site with many different cams.

Never mind, I found it. XE262H-10

I would like to see the @.050 duration. 218/224 110° It will have a bit of a lope. Probably the biggest you should go on a 318 with stock compression. A Teen with 8/1 doesn't like much of a cam and this is borderline too big. What is the rest of your build? 4 barrel? Intake? What heads? Headers? Converter? Rear gears?
It might be a bit doggy on the bottom end because of the lack of compression.
The Extreme Energy cams have aggressive lobes and can be a bit noisy.

HI,
yes 4bbl. QF 450 (I well increase that if I need to) ,Eldelbrock performer intake, Stock heads for a 75 had him take 10T off to bump the compression a little, stock manifolds 2 1/4 " duels out the back, stock converter, 308 rear gears.
Not looking for anything crazzy..

The Summit #6901 is quite popular with the 318 crowd. It works with a stock converter, 4 barrel and dual exhaust. #6900 or 6901 are both good ones.
Oregon cams is a good place to check out. Give them a call and tell them your combo and they can set you up.
That Comp cam you listed isn't too far from a 340 cam from back in the day which can be a bit too big, giving up some bottom end. The Summit 6901 is similar but it is ground on 114° which makes it milder with more bottom end and vacuum. (the Comp was a 110° which is a bit more radical. Here's a fun short of the 6901.

Here's a link to a few more videos. All 318's I believe. Some sound like they have more lope but initial timing and idle speed make a big difference there. That tan colored B body has a nice sound. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=summit+6901+cam+318

Sorry I didn't know the link was wrong I've changed the original link to the cam I have
