The second generation Charger was iconic the moment it was first shown to the public. Charger sales went from 17,000 to 96,000! The moment the sinister black Charger R/T hit the big screen in Bullitt it was already a star!

The Dukes of Hazzard popularized the second generation Charger. So much so, it is easily identifiable even by non-enthusiasts…

I have heard people say that,but I have been buying second generation Chargers for 45 years,and prices for all three model years have always been about the same.
 
Depends, are we asking retired guys or the whole public? Are we asking about just old cars, or MOPARS?

Yet the 70 has the best of all options! I’m partial to a 70.. but I like them all, I’m a die hard Mopar guy, most iconic 68 / 69 charger .. the road runner for sure .. too many to pick from as I like them all.

68 Charger
From whence all mopar dreams came true.
And I'm not even a charger guy. But when I was 10, its the car at the end of the block that made me look at cars.

Yet you have to choose only one! But we think we know which one you will choose…..
 
If you were to take any 4 cars above along with the General Lee as the 5th car and posted them on facebook with the simple question “Which car do you recognize?” The General Lee would win hands down by a mile. And although I think the 1970 Roadrunner is the most Iconic in my opinion as someone interested in Mopars the General Lee is the most Iconic to the general public even today. Am I wrong?

and in the background is the #1 global automotive icon (and cult classic) of all time...the VW Beetle. I'll take a '68 Charger R/T.
 
I think the '68 Charger R/T. Just beating out the '69. Including the '69 A12 Superbee. (Which is damn close.) I believe '69 was the best year in US automotive history. All around. (I think Mustang and Camaro lovers would agree?)
