Update: Drove another 1,472 miles (237,348 - 235,876) with 76.439 gallons of regular fuel which averages out to 19.25 mpg. On different segments of the highway mileage varied between a low of 15.76 mpg to high 21.8 mpg. Some Mexican military personal and police officers on the way seemed attracted to the Jeep, several asking what year it was and kinda behaving as if they wished it belonged to them.
The day before the reunion I had lunch with an ex-girlfriend (Melissa) who attended a different school. The poor thing was ill a couple of years ago (tumor) and lost a lot of weight that she never gained back (now looks to be about 95 pounds). Did not measure up appearance wise, but we hit off well just like old times.
At the reunion (for classes 1972-1978) the most popular/attractive girl in our class of '73 (Margie) came over to me at the reunion and she (surprisingly) looked super good. I thing she gave me a brief hug, but I was so busy looking at her maybe that is now a false memory.
Now I'm up in Chico, CA visiting an old community college buddy from our community college Auto Technology classes (circa 1973-1975) who is a Chevrolet fan and currently has a dental practice.
As a side note: About a year ago I drove my unrestored '65 Plymouth Valiant Signet convertible from La Paz back to the USA to store at my brother's home in Valley Springs, CA. (about 1,500 miles) So it has been parked outside with a car cover on it since last November. With just a battery charge and a couple of squirts of SeaFoam down the carb it fired right up again. It was listed on EBay the past six days at no reserve and with a starting bid set at only $1,000.00. Ended the sale with zero bids and no sale! Weird.
